About Kim Michelle Hansen:
Being a child, adolescent and young adult counsellor with over 40 years experience, my passion for working with young people was realised when I began my career as a teacher, in both primary and high school settings. I later specialized in the area of learning difficulties. I have successfully combined my knowledge of neuroscience, child and adolescent development, learning and behaviour with Applied Neuroscience, Counselling, Clinical Hypnotherapy & Special Education, to inform & support good mental health and wellbeing across all ages.
This unique array of skills enables me to work therapeutically, while appreciating the difficulties experienced by people, as they navigate family life, independence, relationships and dealing with the pressures of school, TAFE or University and career.
I regularly attend ongoing professional development in the form of conferences, workshops and study, to keep me informed and up to date on current good mental health practices. My special area of interest is in working with anxiety & depression.
My studies in neuroscience, has led to me being certified as an Applied Neuroscience Practitioner. Neuroscience informs my counselling practice and is an exciting science backed approach to treatment.
I am currently a Teaching Associate - Clinical Supervisor in the Master of Counselling program at Monash University, Melbourne Victoria.
I regularly engage in Clinical Supervision, as well as conducting Clinical Supervision for students and experienced counsellors, in Australia and overseas. I also provide counselling services for the following EAP companies: Drake WorkWise, Access EAP, Acacia EAP and NewPsych.
I was a past Co convener of the Australian Counselling Association of the ACT and NSW, Sydney Branch, where I presented Ethical Dilemma and Case Study workshops for members & guests.
