Clinical Supervision for Individual, Peer and Group Settings
Engaging in clinical supervision is an important way of maintaining and improving your ability to provide a thoughtful, informed and ethically sound service to your clients. Clinical Supervision is a deliberate practice of reflection, professional & personal growth & learning, that can be transformative for both you and your clients.
Clinical supervision can occur in individual, group or peer settings and is undertaken on a regular basis, to inform and guide best practice in counselling and psychotherapy. I am a university trained Clinical Supervisor, able to assist you to achieve your professional goals.
Clinical supervision is a crucial endeavour for any practising mental health professional. The purpose of supervision should be threefold:
Normative (relating to working within the boundaries/ethics and laws of the profession, ensuring the quality and safety of the practice),
Restorative (relating to the support given to and the emotional well being and fitness to practice of the therapist) and
Formative (relating to the ongoing educational development and competence of the therapist).
While at this time, supervision is not a mandated practice, most professional counselling associations require their members to undertake a prescribed number of hours of supervision, per number of client hours, per year.
I trained as a clinical supervisor through Derby University, in the U.K, graduating with a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision at Masters Level 7. I am an Accredited Supervisor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
In Clinical Supervision I work with a broad range of counsellors and psychotherapists, from those embarking on their first counselling/psychotherapy placement as students in degree and Masters courses, right through to highly experienced therapists of many years standing.
If you are currently not receiving clinical supervision and are interested in finding out more about how clinical supervision can strengthen and improve your practice, please contact to discuss your individual supervisory needs.
